Meet the Chef

SHANNON MCKENZIE

Chef Shannon developed a passion for cooking at an early age while spending time in the kitchen with her mom. She eventually began demonstrating her cooking talents as a token of love for her family and friends. Soon her at-home hobby would blossom into a desire to share her love through food with those beyond her home. As a result, Shannon decided to study her craft of cooking and achieved a degree in Culinary Arts from the Art Institute of Washington. After starting her family and having two rambunctious little boys, she knew it was time to pursue her career in catering alongside her service to the Federal Government. Shannon provides elite service to a variety of clientele. She has even catered to celebrity clientele. When she is not in the kitchen, Shannon can be found doing what she loves - shopping and hosting intimate family events. As a true native Washingtonian, her favorite food is fried chicken wings (with Mambo sauce, of course).

Our dishes are inspired by traditional southern African American culture. We understand the value and comfort of a warm, flavor-filled, soulful “plate”.

 

City Soul uses the freshest, quality ingredients in our dishes. All dishes are made from scratch, and served from our kitchen to your table. We specialize in seafood and soul food, with an occasional Caribbean flair to spice it up.

We take pride in creating an affordable, and memorably enjoyable food experience.

At City Soul we believe all events are important no matter the size. We understand all our clients want something unique and special. Whether you are planning a wedding, baby shower, birthday party, kids birthday party, small house party, housewarming, business mixer, or corporate lunch, we can help you plan the menu for your event.
